Hello anyone out there. Last week I was pretty busy with the whole back to work thing and making things for Scrappit. This week I have had a bit more time - not much more but a bit lol!!
While blog surfing I found a link to a gallery on Flickr that featured this awesome tutorial on recycling your plastic bags to make into a useable material. The lady who wrote the technique actually sews the stuff together to make items like bags and purses!!
From the moment I saw it though, I thought of the scrapping potential!! So of course I had a go, went nuts and played and absolutely love the stuff. It is such a versatile and effective technique.
Anyway, here's the catch - you have to visit the Scrappit blog to get the link. Yep, I closed my puter for a second and boom it restarted itself and I lost what I had on my screen. I know I could go and get it to copy here but I think this would be much more fun since you could check out what Scrappit has to offer while you were there.
As a peace offering I will share a photo of one project I created with this material -
If you can remember the beach page I shared last week, the one with the plastic yellow strip on the bottom? Well I created this cover using the leftover plastic material from that. To get the aged effect I simply washed it with 3 different coloured alcohol inks the smeared gesso over certain places then applied more alcohol ink.
Since it was so grungy, I gave it a Tim Holtz style makeover to finish off the cover.
There's nothing inside atm, am thinking about keeping it for Sarah to use as a farewell for her teacher since he is leaving this year.
Well, thats it for me - things to do and not much to say!!
